The ephemeral and symbolic are explored in the exhibition "26 + 38" at the Bóveda Cultural Center.
León, Gto.- Among hanging ornaments, newspapers with sequences of sparrows fluttering throughout the space and an atypical centerpiece, with a Greek bust and some embedded beers, the exhibition "26 + 38" by artists Ariadna Montserrat and Josué Velasco , aims to evoke fleeting emotions and symbols of the memories of material objects.
The artists graduated from the University of Guanajuato (UG) , Ariadna and Josué Velasco Plastic Arts, presented their collection at the Bóveda Cultural Center , with a proposal of minimalist tints, between a collage of newspapers and ideas of the posthumous value of consumerism.
Visual artist Ariadna Montserrat López commented on her work in the exhibition:
My pieces portray a series of objects that allude to value, beyond their materiality, and above all, to reflect on their posthumous value after consumption. This dynamic of assigning values and accumulating trash is similar to that of memory.

Based on convergence, the exhibition addresses themes such as memory and the accumulation of goods, with a body of work developed through the visibility of memory, linked to characteristics such as ephemerality and symbolism.
For his part, Josué Velasco explained about the shared exhibition:
In my work for this exhibition, I used the house sparrow as an element representing memory; a small, fleeting, and fragile being, like memories. These appear in each of the eight pieces, through drawings, a painting, and a shared installation.
In each work, the birds overlap, share strokes, and are cut out to tell short, non-consecutive stories. Through strokes of ink, markers, and charcoal, the frames invite us to complete shapes and intuit narratives.”

Under the premise proposed by Ariadna Montserrat and Josué Velasco , the projects come together in proposals that address the symbolism immortalized in the material, where flowers and sparrows on paper overlap, leaving questions about the present, supported by the past and without an apparent future.
Furthermore, the exhibition addresses perspectives where capitalism imposes its ideas, measuring success from a materialistic perspective, in contrast to spiritual currents whose ultimate goal is happiness. This unleashes conflicts where the dynamics merge the tangible with the intangible, coming together in a mass that links emotions, symbols and memories, in which relics become the only witnesses of time.
The exhibition “26 + 38” will be available at the Bóveda Cultural Center until September 27 .
